Evidence Synthesis Institute Canada- Applications are now open

0

Applications are now open for the inaugural Evidence Synthesis Institute in Canada!

Applications will be open from July 4 and will close on July 29 at 11:59pm PT. Successful applicants will be notified by mid-August. The Institute itself is planned to run virtually from October 3-6, 2022. On the days noted, the Institute will run from 12-5pm ET / 9am-2pm PT.

This Canadian version of the Institute has been generously funded by the University of Victoria Libraries, so the Institute will involve no charge for accepted applicants. CAPAL’s Research and Scholarship Committee is providing support to the Institute under the leadership of Zahra Premji from the University of Victoria and in collaboration with Amy Riegelman and Megan Kocher from the University of Minnesota.

We are able to accept 50 participants in this pilot offering of the Institute in Canada. Applications will be screened and prioritized based on current employment in a library/research setting, urgency of need, existing knowledge gap, disciplines supported by applicant, and potential impact of training. Applicants primarily supporting non-health sciences disciplines will be prioritized but we will consider health sciences applicants if there are spots available.

Applicants should anticipate addressing the following questions in their application:
Why is this training relevant to your current work or career development?
How will you use specialized evidence synthesis skills in your job?
How will you share what you learn at this workshop to build capacity within your communities (institutional, professional, etc.)?
The language of instruction for the Institute will be English. However, we will have French-speaking instructors available for follow-up conversations. Each day of the Institute typically ends with discipline-focused discussion groups. If you would rather participate in discussion with other French speakers rather than with a disciplinary group, please answer in the affirmative to the question on the application form.
