Webinar on Academic Freedom for CAPAL/ACBAP members and non-members

Message from the CAPAL/ACBAP chair

Dear CAPAL/ACBAP colleagues:

Several months ago, the CAPAL/ACBAP board selected an area of focus for this academic year: to assist our members to more fully understand and inhabit their roles, responsibilities, and rights as academic staff.

As one means to advance this goal, we will be offering a webinar on academic freedom. The webinar will be scheduled for a date and time in February or March (to be determined) and will be led by Dr. Jim Turk, Director of the Centre for Free Expression and Distinguished Visiting Professor at Ryerson University. The webinar will be at no cost to you, and it will be held in English. I regret that CAPAL/ACBAP does not (yet) have the capacity to offer opportunities like this one in both French and English.

All CAPAL/Acbap members and non-members are welcome. If you are interested in participating, please respond to me off-list (write to lisa.richmond[at]wheaton.edu) by Friday, February 2. In addition, please let me know of any particular issues or questions relating to academic freedom that you would like the webinar to cover. Dr. Turk wants to make his presentation as relevant to us as possible and will encourage interaction during the session.

With best wishes,

Lisa Richmond
